Recruiting string players is a full time job.  We know you are out there and even if you haven’t played in years and need a refresher we are here to help you do that.

GCCA is committed to being a teaching orchestra, which means we provide a fun, music filled environment. We have many different levels of players.  We work very hard to provide a learning environment that encourages our newer players to feel comfortable regardless of their playing level or ability. One of the few requirements we have of our professionals is for them to become mentors to these newer players.

If you are a string player please consider joining. You need only a commitment to rehearsals and participation in concerts. If you are a string teacher please let us know you are here.  We can provide your students an orchestral experience and provide opportunities for performance.

The Youth Orchestra rehearses Thursdays from 4:30pm to 6:00pm and Adult Orchestra is Thursdays from 6:00pm to 8:30pm.

Join us Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 4:00 pm for the 4th Annual Inspirational Concert featuring the Golden Corridor Center for the Arts Adult Orchestra, Hands on Bronze International Bell Ringers and the combined choirs from Trinity Lutheran Church and St. Anthony’s.

The concert is located at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at 201 N. Picacho Street in Historic downtown Casa Grande.  Admission is Free.

Joins GCCAThe Golden Corridor Center for the Arts, Inc., welcomes Dr. Lasansky as the new conductor for the Golden Corridor’s Pinal County Adult Orchestra.  “We are excited about this new chapter as we continue to evolve into a vibrant string orchestra for Pinal County,” says Maureen Berger, President of the Golden Corridor. “As a young organization we continue to grow and provide an important cultural element to our community through our string programs.”  Dr. Lasansky will bring his expertise and joy of music making to our organization.

Enrique Lasansky’s musical career began as a clarinetist. He was a student of Anthony Gigliotti, 1st. clarinetist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Upon graduation from Swarthmore College, Enrique received a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship for clarinet and conducting studies in Europe. Later he received an M.F.A from Carnegie Mellon University and studied with Maestro Charles Bruck at the Pierre Monteux School for Advanced Conductors. In 1991 he received a Doctor of Musical Arts in orchestral conducting from the University of Arizona. That same year he founded the Catalina Chamber Orchestra (CCO) in Tucson where he served as Music Director from 1991-2008.  The CCO started as an amateur group and became a professional ensemble by 2002. The orchestra produced two CD’s, The Catalina Chamber Orchestra and New Music from the Southwest.  In addition the CCO was on the Roster of the Arizona Commission on the Arts, and performed numerous concerts and workshops in the public schools.

Enrique Lasansky has appeared as guest conductor with the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra, Tucson-Messiah Sing-In, Pima Community College Opera Theater, The Chandler Symphony, The Orquesta de Avellaneda in Buenos Aires Argentina, The Paris Sinfonietta and La Orquesta del Estado de Mexico. Enrique taught strings and orchestra in the public schools of San Antonio, Texas and Tucson, Arizona. He currently teaches orchestra and Mariachi at Safford Elementary and Middle School in Tucson.
