Be a part of this exciting community group that encourages and fosters strings in communities and schools. The Golden Corridor Center for the Arts, Inc., is looking for committed string players to be a part of this county-wide effort. You can make a difference through your participation and there is no cost to join the adult orchestra.

Whether you played in high school or continued into college and have not touched your stringed instrument since, know that we are here to help you get started again. It just takes that one extra step to make the call. If you are a string teacher this is your opportunity to get back into playing with a group again. We take an unique approach and use many of our professionals and para-professionals to mentor our youth and adults needing extra help. Education is our mission!

Rehearsals are Thursdays August through May

Youth: 4:30pm and 6:00pm (during the school year)

Adult: 6:30pm to 8:30pm September through May

Beginning and Intermediate string classes are available as well as string refresher classes.

Private string lessons are also available.

Recruiting string players is a full time job. We know you are out there and even if you haven’t played in years and need a refresher we are here to help you do that.

GCCA is committed to being a teaching orchestra, which means we provide a fun, music filled environment. We have many different levels of players. We work very hard to provide a learning environment that encourages our newer players to feel comfortable regardless of their playing level or ability. One of the few requirements we have of our professionals is for them to become mentors to these newer players.

If you are a string player please consider joining. You need only a commitment to rehearsals and participation in concerts. If you are a string teacher please let us know you are here. We can provide your students an orchestral experience and provide opportunities for performance.

The Youth Orchestra rehearses Thursdays from 4:30pm to 6:00pm and Adult Orchestra is Thursdays from 6:00pm to 8:30pm.

Enrique Lasansky’s musical career began as a clarinetist. He was a student of Anthony Gigliotti, 1st. clarinetist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Upon graduation from Swarthmore College, Enrique received a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship for clarinet and conducting studies in Europe. Later he received an M.F.A from Carnegie Mellon University and studied with Maestro Charles Bruck at the Pierre Monteux School for Advanced Conductors. In 1991 he received a Doctor of Musical Arts in orchestral conducting from the University of Arizona. That same year he founded the Catalina Chamber Orchestra (CCO) in Tucson where he served as Music Director from 1991-2008. The CCO started as an amateur group and became a professional ensemble by 2002. The orchestra produced two CD’s, The Catalina Chamber Orchestra and New Music from the Southwest. In addition the CCO was on the Roster of the Arizona Commission on the Arts, and performed numerous concerts and workshops in the public schools.

Enrique Lasansky has appeared as guest conductor with the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra, Tucson-Messiah Sing-In, Pima Community College Opera Theater, The Chandler Symphony, The Orquesta de Avellaneda in Buenos Aires Argentina, The Paris Sinfonietta and La Orquesta del Estado de Mexico. Enrique taught strings and orchestra in the public schools of San Antonio, Texas and Tucson, Arizona. He currently teaches orchestra and Mariachi at Safford Elementary and Middle School in Tucson.
