THE GOLDEN CORRIDOR CENTER FOR THE ARTS
STRING QUARTET TO PERFORM WITH CGUHS CHORALE
The Golden Corridor Center for the Arts String Quartet will be joining the Casa Grande Union High School Chorale conducted by Tyler Forsythe, vocal music teacher, in a presentation of Eric Whitacre’s “Five Hebrew Love Songs” this Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 7:00pm located at the High School Auditorium. This performance presents choreography by Corianna Lee, CGUHS dance teacher. Other performances include performances by CGUHS choirs and beginning dance classes. The concert is free of charge.
Whitacre set to music five poems by wife Hila Plitmann based on their experiences while visiting Jerusalem, Hila’s homeland. In 2001 Eric adapted them for strings.
Many of Whitacre’s works have entered the standard choral and symphonic repertories and have become the subject of several recent scholarly works and doctoral dissertations. His works Water Night, Cloudburst, Sleep, Lux Aurumque and A Boy and a Girl are among the most popular choral works of the last decade, and his Ghost Train, Godzilla Eats Las Vegas, and October have achieved equal success in the symphonic wind community.
